Or you might fear something else entirely.<\/p>\n<p>This is why jealousy is so unattractive. It\u2019s always about fear: feeling afraid that he won\u2019t be passionate toward me, that he\u2019ll desire someone else more than me, or that he\u2019ll reject me because of how I look.<\/p>\n<p>Answering the question \u201cWhat are you afraid of?\u201d is a good start to transforming a painful situation where you feel mistreated and hurt into an empowering one where you feel dignified and confident.<\/p>\n<p>Knowing specifically what you\u2019re afraid of is like shining a light under the bed where the monster lives. Every. My paper is where everything I do have control over lives, like my attitude, what I focus on, and all my decisions. Sometimes it seems less scary to just be the armchair quarterback of my husband\u2019s life than to really look at my own paper.<\/p>\n<p>Of course he shouldn\u2019t look at women online. I can feel confident about that, except that\u2026it\u2019s not actually in my control. It\u2019s not on my paper. That\u2019s all on his paper.<\/p>\n<p>So a very interesting question to ask is \u201cWhat am I afraid of on my paper?\u201d Is it that talk I\u2019m supposed to give but I\u2019m nervous about? Is it that I\u2019m resisting writing a new book? Is it something I did that I probably need to apologize for but I\u2019m not up to being accountable for?<\/p>\n<p>Because I do stuff like that. And I focus on what my husband is doing wrong as a distraction from my own discomfort.<\/p>\n<p>So when you\u2019re feeling upset about your husband looking at women online, it\u2019s interesting to ask yourself what else is going on with you that might need your attention. Because when I give <em>myself<\/em> the attention I need, the urge to control what my husband is doing or looking at greatly subsides.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Drop_and_Do_10\"><\/span>3. Isn\u2019t it great there are no pushups involved in the Six Intimacy Skills\u2122? I am a coach, which means I may ask you to try things that feel hard but make you proud afterward, but I\u2019m not big on assigning pushups.<\/p>\n<p>What I\u2019m big on is asking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/lifestyle\/people-practice-3-daily-habits-163004487.html\">what you\u2019re grateful for<\/a> about your man. I\u2019m talking about dropping and doing 10 gratitudes for him being in your life.<\/p>\n<p>I know his faults may feel bigger right now while you\u2019re thinking about him looking at other women on the Internet, but you picked him for good reasons. What are those reasons? Can you list 5 of them? Can you get to 10? Or if you\u2019re an overachiever, I invite you to think of 22 things that you\u2019re grateful for about your man. You know who you are.<\/p>\n<p>I know it\u2019s challenging to do this when you\u2019re focused on what he\u2019s doing wrong, and that\u2019s exactly the point. What you focus on increases.
